Your hair plays a vital part in your daily grooming routine. You can't just don your bed hair all day long, whether you plan to go out or just stay at home. You would usually comb or brush your hair either as soon as you get up or before going out of your room. When going out on a date, there would be much ado about the hair making you spend more time on it sometimes.

So, when you are experiencing hair loss, the first thing that you will be concerned is "How am I gonna stop this?" or "What can I do to bring it back to the way it was?" Worrying about hair loss is just a normal reaction.

Why do you experience hair loss and when should it become a concern? Hair loss is actually normal for all people. A person normally loses an estimated of 50 to 100 hairs per day. Your hair undergoes a normal growing, resting and shedding cycle. Within a number of months, your hair grows long then stops growing during the resting phase, afterwhich the resting hair falls out. Good news for you, new hair will eventually grow out from the same spot, and the cycle goes on and on. As you grow older, however, hair growth cycle becomes slower than usual which is why older people have thinner hair or more noticeable hair loss.

Ok, now you know that after an old hair falls out, a new one grows out thereafter. But what if no new hair grows out at all after the old hair fell out? The result is obvious. This is what we call baldness. It is not lethal, yes, but it has psychological effects on a person who is suffering from baldness. It can affect the confidence and self-esteem of a person big time, and losing confidence in oneself is something that's not easy to address. So, what can cause baldness? And the million dollar question is, what can be done to resolve it?

What are the cause(s) of excessive hair loss or baldness? Let us tackle the common ones here. It is known that baldness can be hereditary or genetic so you'll need to check out your family history. If it is not hereditary, it can be caused by the exposure of your hair to too much or harsh chemicals. The chemicals on hair gel or hair spray can cause damage to the hair follicles that can disrupt hair growth. If you must use hair gel or hair spray, use them sparingly. The harsh ingredients in some shampoos can also cause excessive hair loss.

Personal hygiene or lack of it can play a part as well. If you have an unhealthy scalp, you'll also have unhealthy hair. While you should be careful about the products you put on your hair, you should also not neglect caring for your hair. You need to wash your hair regularly using shampoo with mild ingredients. Just like any part of your body, you need to take good care of your hair, too. Avoiding chemically-harsh products or having good hygiene will not apply to hereditary baldness, however. So, what can be done about hereditary baldness?

Solutions to hair loss proliferate nowadays. They range from herbal solutions to creams that you can apply to your scalp, or vitamins you can take, even shampoos that you can use. There are also massage tools to stimulate the scalp, laser restoration or even hair transplants done by experts. It is good to note that there are now a lot of options to choose from. It is very different back then when the most common solution to address baldness would be to buy a wig. While it isn't permanent, it was then the fastest solution to baldness.

While all are entitled to have healthy hair, sometimes it isn't all that easy. Just like getting a good physique, you need to exert effort to keep your hair and scalp healthy. You should consult your dermatologist right away if you notice more falling hair. In consultation with an expert, you can choose the best option for curing excessive hair loss. If you are financially well-off, you may opt for the medical hair restoration, a hair transplant or laser treatment. Since hair restoration is now getting more easily available with quite a permanent result, it is really good news for people with baldness.
